This season, the Freedoms are led by ATP World No. 24 Taylor Fritz and WTA World No. 4 and this year’s Australian Open Champion Sofia Kenin, who is making her team and league debut. Kenin, the No. 1 ranked American woman, and Fritz, the No. 2 ranked American man, will join Freedoms veterans Taylor Townsend (2018 WTT Female MVP), Fabrice Martin and Donald Young Jr. on the court this season. American doubles specialist Caroline Dolehide will also make her team and league debut.
Coached by last year’s WTT Coach of the Year, Craig Kardon, the Freedoms will play 14 matches in the span of 18 days at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. All matches will be televised or live-streamed on CBS, CBS Sports Network, the CBS Sports app, Tennis Channel, ESPN2, ESPN+, Facebook Watch or WTT.com. All 2020 WTT matches will be available to be streamed on demand through the league’s official website, WTT.com, after each match’s conclusion.
Star players who will be competing against the Freedoms throughout the entire 2020 WTT season include:
- 23-time Grand Slam winner (seven singles titles) and four-time Olympic gold medalist Venus Williams (Washington)
- he winningest and most accomplished doubles team in tennis history Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan, 10-time ATP singles champion and five-time ATP doubles champ Sam Querrey and the reigning Olympic Gold medalist in women’s singles Monica Puig (Las Vegas)
- 2017 U.S. Open champ Sloane Stephens ,former Wimbledon finalist Genie Bouchard and doubles specialist Bethanie Mattek-Sands (Chicago Smash)
- Former World No. 1 and six-time Grand Slam winner Kim Clijsters, Jack Sock and the 2019 WTT Male Most Valuable Player Neal Skupski (New York Empire)
- Two-time Australian Open quarterfinalist Tennys Sandgren (Orlando Storm)
- 2018 US Open women’s doubles champion Coco Vandeweghe (San Diego Aviators)
